Best Bets for Serie A

Despite being the defending Serie A winners, AC Milan is just the third favorite, trailing Inter Milan and Juventus. The current Scudetto champions have not invested heavily during the summer, despite the arrivals of Charles De Ketelaere, Divock Origi, and Yacine Adli.

Although Franck Kessie and Alessio Romagnoli have left the San Siro, the team still appears to be capable of retaining the title and may benefit from the lack of player churn.

Juve’s Rebuilding

It has been a period of transition for Juventus. After winning nine consecutive championships, the Old Lady has struggled in the last two seasons owing to a slew of on- and off-field issues. Last season, they finished fourth, 21 points behind the winners.

Paulo Dybala, Federico Bernardeschi, Douglas Costa, Aaron Ramsey, Giorgio Chiellini, and Matthijs de Ligt have all been permitted to depart the Allianz Stadium to help balance the books. They do, however, have a promising young squad and have re-signed the seasoned Paul Pogba from Manchester United, as well as Bremer, Federico Chiesa, and Filip Kostic.

While this is a new Juve, they will be competitive again this season and will almost definitely be a title contender.

Lukaku has returned to Inter

Inter, who won the Scudetto in 2020-21, appear to be in the mix as well. Romelu Lukaku is one of several summer arrivals, having returned to the club on a two-year loan after a disappointing season with Chelsea. Manager Simone Inzaghi will try to instill the mentality of 2020-21 in his group.

With the additions of Kristjan Asllani, Raoul Bellanova, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, I Nerazzurri appear as competitive as ever and more than earn their standing as Serie A title favorites.

Mourinho’s Roma win the European Championship.

After achieving European gold last season, Jose Mourinho’s Roma must also be considered. Their success in the Europa League would have given the Romans a huge lift, and Mourinho has added reinforcements like Paulo Dybala and Georginio Wijnaldum to the Giallorossi ranks over the summer.

Despite a disappointing eighth-place finish last season, Atalanta, a club known for promoting from within its junior systems, cannot be overlooked. Along with their bright teenagers, some of whom are already internationals, they have added English winger Ademola Lookman and attacking midfielder Éderson to their roster. Atalanta should not be ruled out of competing in the Champions League.

Golden Boot Odds in Serie A

Ciro Immobile of Lazio won the Serie A Golden Boot – also known as the Paolo Rossi Award – last season despite his side placing fifth. It was Immobile’s fourth championship (the first came in 2014), and as a +450 third-favorite, he can’t be overlooked.

Lukaku is the +350 favorite, but it will take a significant improvement in form for him to achieve 20 goals this season. At the same odds as Lukaku, Duan Vlahovi, a 22-year-old Serb who scored seven goals in 15 Serie A games for Juventus last season, offers better value.

Lautaro Martnez, the Inter striker who scored 25 goals in all competitions last season, appears to be undervalued at +900. This is especially important because he will want to remain Inter’s major goal threat even once Lukaku arrives.

Tammy Abraham of AS Roma is another contender, according to his one-goal-every-two ratio last season (27 in 53 games). While he is not a prolific goalscorer in his own England, he has found life in Italy to be very enjoyable.

Lautaro Martnez to win Golden Boot (+900) is the best bet.
